   So, W-L-T are wins, loses and ties. Points are normally 2 for a win
   and 1 for a tie (more on that later). GF and GA are goals for and
   against (goals scored and allowed).

   The 1st record is probably the conference record; the overall record
   is conference plus other games.

Let's look at a couple of entries from the Division I standings.
To obtain the complete standings, send mail to [log in to unmask]
and in the body of the mail enter: GET 9495CONF STAND

<> 12/5/94                ECAC                       Overall
<>                        GP  W-L-T   Pts  GF-GA  || GP   W-L-T    GF-GA
<>                        ===============================================
<>  1  Brown               8  6-2-0   12   27-21  ||  8   6-2-0    27-21
<>  2  RPI                 5  5-0-0   10   25-12  || 10   7-3-0    42-31

   So Brown is currently ranked 1st (RPI 2nd) in the ECAC Division I
   Conference. Brown has played 8 league/conference games having won 6,
   lost 2 and tied none. 6*2+0*1=12 league points. Leagues are
   normally ranked by points, but early in the season you may see
   another ordering (winning percentage ... Hi Charlie!) that takes
   into account one team playing fewer or more games than another.

Now for one last example

12/5/94                Hockey East                   Overall
                       GP  W-L-T  SOW Pts  GF-GA  || GP   W-L-T    GF-GA
                       ==================================================
 1  Maine              10  6-0-4   1  39   42-31  || 15  11-0-4    67-44
 2  Boston University   9  4-2-3   2  28   48-37  || 13   7-3-3    70-47

   The Hockey East conference has instituted a "shootout" after tie
   games. So we have another column SOW for "shootout win"; sometimes
   you will see SOL for "shootout loss". Hockey East "points" are
   calculated differently due to this shootout experiment. A win is 5
   points, a tie is 2 points and a shootout win is 1 point.

Hope this helps,
