I don't believe that Hartje was the first to play in the Russian
Leagues.  There was a guy from my hometown that played over there before
that, although his name is drawing a blank now.  He kept a diary that I believe
was bought and printed by Sports Illustrated.  Any one know for sure who
the first was?
