The offense was not necessarily any better than it has been in years
prior (Fusco, MacDonald, Bourbeau) or since (Ciavaglia, Donato,
Vukonich).  But the defense was better, there was more depth, and most
importantly, if you hit Lane, Melrose cleaned your clock.  Lane may
have seen stars, but you saw supernovas.

I often wondered if the anticipation of having your clocked cleaned by
Melrose was almost as bad as actually being hit by Kevin!  Once that
capacity crowd at Bright starting chanting "Mel-rose!", "Mel-rose!", it
had to feel like the Grim Reaper was on his way to your front door.
