Here is my corrected listing 1994 NHL entry draft picks (and a couple
1993's see below) that are going to be in Div. 1 hockey next year. I
know it is still incomplete but it is a little better than the first
time I posted it and probably is reasonably correct. I suspect more
information will dribble in from time to time especially at the start
of the season.
I am not sure what this tells us except that less that half the teams
in Div. 1 will have players chosen in the 1994 Entry Draft.
Like the listing of past post season play there is very little we can
learn from this except perhaps that the ECAC is not as bad as some
would say.
It has been 10 years since HE and the ECAC split and I sort of think
that the ECAC is playing closer to the average level of Div. 1 hockey
now than it was in the 10 years preceding the split. Of course HE is
also doing just fine. I recollect there was a bad run in there from
maybe 1973 to 1983 with only few appearance by eastern teams in the
championship game.
Then again to contradict myself maybe it is just that the ECAC stayed
about the same and expansion diluted the talent everywhere else.
