Re the question about what the Empire State Network is: this is the New York
State versions of NESN and other regional sports channels. I'm not sure if
it is available throughout New York; it's certainly available in the Capital
Region (and thus, in Troy) through Capital Cablevision. What's happened in
the past is that they've picked up coverage from the Prime Network, which
broadcast a certain number of college games, including several ECAC games,
and the ECAC tournament. Now, in their infinite wisdom, they (Capital
Cablevision) has the Empire State Network (and thus Prime) share time with
the Home Shopping Network, and this has had bad consequences, such as when
the non-prime time game of the final four (Harvard vs. LSU) was replaced by
three hours of merchandise. However, at least for the ECAC final, one of the
local network affiliates, I think Channel 10 (ABC) out of Albany, picked up
the game -- happily for Harvard fans in the Capital Region. I think Channel
10 did the same thing when RPI last made the ECAC final.
