The key to getting UAF in was scheduling the 5 trips to Fairbanks
each year. (The rest of the schedule will look pretty much like before
when Kent was the 11th team.) The schools were able to come up with
several (more than 5) good dates for a team to go up north and not
miss any class time. Prime times for going to UAF will be: Christmas
and Thanksgiving breaks, spring breaks, and mid-semester breaks.
Specifically, Michigan and MSU both have February spring breaks, so they
might alternate going to UAF each year at that time. OSU usually has
exams early in December, so they could go north the following week.
Miami usually has mid-semester breaks--guess when they will be going?
 
Without the assurances from the CCHA that the trips to UAF will not
mean missed class time, the Nanooks would not have been admitted into
the CCHA as a full member.
