It is reported in both Twin Cities papers (Star Tribune & St. Paul Pioneer
Press) today (5/6/94) that 3 finalists have been recommended for the North
Dakota head coaching position:

Mark Mazzoleni - Minnesota assistant and former head coach at UW Stevens Point,
where he coached them to 3 Div III titles.

Paul Pooley - Lake Superior State assistant

Dean Blais - International Falls (MN) H.S. coach, former North Dakota and US
Olympic assistant. Also coached Roseau to 1991 Minn. HS championship.

Any info other than current employment is from my memory only, not the article.

That item was carried in Sid "Scud" Hartman's column in the Star Tribune, with
no mention of the fact that last week he wrote that Mazz was out of the running.
The next day the St Paul sports gossip columnist (Charley Walters) wrote
something to he effect of "Despite what you've heard elsewhere" Mazz was still
in the running for the job. Just another reminder why we call him Scud.

From yesterday's (5/5/94) St Paul paper "Area Update":
Defenseman Brent Lovett of Eden Prairie and the Sioux City Musketeers of the
United States Hockey League has signed a national letter of intent to play
hockey at Western Michigan.
