According to Keith:

>Each team plays everyone else 3 times, just like when Kent was in the
>league. 5 of the 10 continental teams go to UAF in a season and play 3
>games there. The other 5 will host UAF for 3 games, probably as a
>2-games series with the third coming on another trip down south (and
>paired with some other third game).

Do I understand this correctly? The continental teams will travel to Fairbanks
and play 3 consecutive games, say Friday, Saturday and Sunday night? I don't
understand how a team could play 3 consecutive nights (or would Sunday be a
matinee contest?) either stamina-wise or academic-wise. Playing three games
at UAF would undoubtedly give the Nanooks an unbelievable home ice advantage.
Any lower 48 team traveling to the Arctic Circle would be lucky to come out of
the trip with a single victory, and the team would certainly be exhausted from
playing 180 minutes of hockey over a three day weekend. Adding in two days
(minimum) travel time (and not the two days to get from the airport to the UP
:-) ) scholar athletes will miss nearly a week's worth of classes. I don't
know how you would arrange such a schedule during finals, unless the whole
team took independent studies.

As for the Nanooks, they might as well take "I"'s at the beginning of the
season. But boy will they be in condition come tourney-time!

I must not be understanding something here, right?
