TV (and newspaper) coverage is very weird in Wisconsin. In Madison, the
Badgers are well represented. There are TWO radio broadcasts. One of
these radio broadcasts becomes the Wisconsin Public Television delayed
broadcast on affiliates across the state. Madison newspapers cover the
team very well.

In Milwaukee, things are differnt. Unless you have a very strong AM
antenna, you can't get any radio. You get the TV delayed broadcast on WMVS
Channel 10 (or also Madison's Ch. 21 WHA on cable). The Milwaukee
Journal/Sentinel's coverage is sparse except during the Bank One Badger
Hockey Showdown in December or during the WCHA Final Five (also at
Milwaukee's Bradley Center).

During the playoffs (WCHA and NCAA), Milwaukee coverage was non-existent.
In Madison, the production company (Prime?, I think)syndicated the
broadcats to Ch. 15 WMTV in Madison, but there was nothing in Milwaukee.
(One possible reason is the black-out rule, because the Bradley Center
wasn't sold out.) The same radio problem exists.

During the NCAA regionals, the Milwaukee news during the sports segment
covered the Badger hockey FIRST, but there wasn't any coverage of the game
at all. Both the Milwaukee Journal and Sentinel had front page pictures
and articles during the NCAA's, but there was not Milwaukee coverage.

I don't get it. If the Badger hockey team is that important to deserve
billing over the Brewers, Bucks, and Admirals in the sportscast and the
sports section, why wasn't there any TV coverage?
Any thoughts out there in hockeyland.

GO BADGERS!!
Beat the Minnesota Golden Rodents!!!
