From Meehan Auditorium

VERMONT 4 1 3 -- 8
BROWN 3 1 1 -- 5

I apologize for the lack of details, this is based on the radio call (the
announcer referred to Vermont as the Cantamounts all night.

I do not have final shots because the end of game discussion was about
where the announcing team was going to eat after the game. Briefly,
Brown jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first 6 minutes. Vermont battled
back and wend ahead with about a minute left in the 1st.

Brown tied it in the first minute of the second and the game was played
on relatively even terms through the 2nd period. The Cats scored with a
minute and a half left to regain the one-goal lead.

Vermont scored in the first half-minute of the third to give themselves a
cushion and again in the last half-period to make it 7-4. Brown pulled
Finch with about two minutes left (while up a man) and scored to make it
7-5. The Cats added an ENG for good measure.

The announcers asserted that the difference in the game was the play of
Thomas in goal; both goalies started out shaky but Thomas apparently
tightened things up. My guess is that Brown outshot Vermont and seemed
to have the better of the play. I do not have the goal scorers or shots,
but will post the box score from tomorrow's paper.
