If we are going to go to three points for a win in regular season hockey,
then you have to have a winner.  If we merely give one point each for a tie
there is an imbalance in points.  2 points for the game instead of three.  I
suggest 3 points for a win, regulation or overtime, zero for a loss.  However,
after an overtime, go to a shootout.  Now, I know that I am one of only a few
that support this (though there would probably be more if Canada had a gold)
but I still think it is a good idea for REGULAR SEASON GAMES.  Play it out in
the playoffs.  I hate ties and I wouldn't wish 4 overtimes on anyone on Friday
night with another game coming up the next night, not always against the same
team.  2 points for a SO winner and 1 for the loser.  It would add excitement,
get rid of obnoxious ties and reward someone for 65 or 70 minutes of good
hockey even if they lose.
