 I thought I posted this last weekend but there were a couple inquiries
tonight so I decided to give it another shot.  Note the date of it and
realize that pairings shown here are not current but I left them in
thinking they might contribute to the understanding and also prompt
comment back to me if there are errors, but these are as I currently
understand them.
 
  And I have NO knowledge of the HE situation in light of recent
developments.
 
   1994 Division I Conference Tournament formats and tiebreakers.
CCHA format and tiebreakers are same as last year.
WCHA #3 tiebreaker is a bit ambiguous; assume head-to-head.
HE tiebreakers for more than 2 teams is not up to date since
  there are 3 games among some teams, 4 among others.

CCHA Tournament: 1-12, 2-11, etc. 2/3; reseed then 3-6 4-5 then 1-4,2-3
                 No Consolation
   Tiebreakers:
      1 Head-head games
      2 Head-head goals
      3 Head-head vs #1, then #2, ...
      4 Coin Flip
   Based on current standings (UAF can be chosen by a higher seed):
      1 Mich     12 Kent       3 WMU    10 NtrDm    5 BGSU 8 FSU
      2 MSU      11 OSU        4 LSSU    9 UIC      6 Miam 7 UAF
 
WCHA Tournament: 1-10, 2-9, etc. 2/3; reseed? then 4-5 then 1-4 2-3
   Tiebreakers:
      1 Head-to-head records
      2 Wins in the league
      3 Total goals differential.
   Based on current standings:

      2 ColoCo    9 Denver     4 No.Mi   7 Mn-Dul
 
HE   Tournament: 1-8, 2-7, etc. 2/3 no OT; reseed? then 1-4, 2-3
   Tiebreakers - Two teams:
      1 League head-to-head won-loss record
      2 Best won-loss record vs. other Hockey East teams.
      3 Best record vs. other HE teams in descending order in standings.
      4 Coin flip
   Tiebreakers - More than two teams:
        The three-game record among the teams will determine the
        higher rank, applying the provisions under two teams.
   Based on current standings:

      1 Head-to-head in ECAC games (tournaments, etc. excluded)
      2 Record against the top four teams in the conference.
      3 Record against the top eight teams in the conference.
      4 Goal differential, head-to-head.
      5 Goal differential against top four teams in the conference.
      6 Goal differential against top eight teams in the conference.
   Based on current standings:   Omit   12 Dartmth 11 Yale
      7 Union    10 Princtn    1 Harvard   8-9      3 RPI      6 Vermont

The NCAA regional formats are:
  6 teams, top 4 from this region + seeds 5 and 6 from that region.
3 and 6 play, winner goes #2; 4 and 5 play, winner goes against #1.
These two winners from this region and the 2 from that go to St.Paul
to try for 2 more wins.  Only the champion succeeds.
