Here's a description from the Gazette-Telegraph of the turning point in the
game, which allowed DU to score 4 goals in the second : "CC defensman Jon
Steiner was called for slashing Denver's Ian DeCorby at 10:38 as they scuffled
near the CC goal. While protesting the call, Steiner skated into DeCorby
again, drawing an additional roughing penalty. When protests emanated from the
CC bench, the Tigers drew an additional team penalty, leaving them two men
short for two minutes and one man down for another four. The Pioneers didn't
waste the opportunity. Ian DeCorby blasted a slap shot home from inside the
left point at 10:56, and Angelo Ricci drilled one in from the top of the right
circle 34 seconds later." Sounds like CC just had a really bad night with the
refs, who were the same ones from the previous night at the Broadmoor, and DU
took advantage of that.
