Summary:

Vermont dominated Union in every way to beat Union 5-0 at Gutterson
Fieldhouse Friday night. Vermont goalie Christian Soucy stopped all 23
Union shots to record the shutout. This is the third time the Dutchmen
have been shut out this season, which is a school record. Before this
season, the Dutchmen had not been shut out in nearly five seasons. One
of Union's two wins this season came against Vermont at Achilles in
November. The Catamounts did not let that happen again. They came
right out and scored just 45 seconds into the game. The Dutchmen were
never in this one. Union starting goalie Luigi Villa faced 22 shots in
the first period. Three of those went in, and Coach Delventhal sent out
Mike Gallant to start the 2nd period. Gallant played very well, but he
got no help from his offense. This game was also played with only 2
referees. The newspaper didn't say why.

Union is still in last place, at 2-13 in the ECAC, 2-16 overall. With
the losses by Cornell and Princeton, Union remains 5 points out of the
10th playoff spot with time running out. Union will play tonight at
Dartmouth, which is coming off a tough loss to RPI.
