In Baseball, do you see all the best teams go to the playoffs? No, there's
been some real shitty records of entire divisions, and super records of other
divisions, yet one team from each division always proceeds to the playoff.
In football, it's one team from each division plus wild cards.
If the "deserving" teams can't make it, they'll just have to go out there the
next year and become "really deserving".
