I was sort of interested in how the Association was doing in the
offense/defense category versus last year. The results are interesting
(note - the final 20 games this weekend will change the result, but not by
much).

Last year, the league (WCHA) averaged 3.656 goals (1170) per game versus
this year's 3.453 (1036 which will go up, but probably not hit 1100).
Thus, goals scored are down 70 or so. Is this a result of improved defense
or absence of quality offense? The most notable difference is CC which is
down 60 goals (minus what they score this weekend). Also, the top team -
North Dakota - is down 44 goals (minus what they score this weekend) from
what the top team (CC) scored last year. Nothing important, but it does
offer some food for thought as to where the Association is headed or was
last year simply abnormal.
