In the only blowout of tonight's matches in the WCHA, Colorado College
defeats Alaska Anchorage 11-3.
The first goal was a power play goal by Peter Geronazzo. Then R.J. Enga
got a goal to bring the lead to 2-0. Anchorage did try to come back, as
Paul Williams scored a power play goal to bring the score to 2-1, but the
Tigers regained their two-goal lead with a score from Colin Schmidt.
Ryan Reynard got his first goal of the night in the second to make it 4-1.
The Seawolves tried to catch up again as Jason White scored, but then the
Tigers would devour them the rest of the period. Lee Schill had been replaced
by Chris Davis at the start of the second period after letting in three goals,
but the replacement proved to be a mistake on Alaska's part. Jay McNeill
scored his 33rd of the season to make it 5-2, and Reynard and Enga scored
again, along with David Paxton and freshman Travis Cheyne, to end the period
up 9-2. Two of the goals were scored during the same 4-on-4 situation from
coincidentals.
As expected, Lee Schill came back out to finish the game in the net for the
Seawolves at the start of the third period. Alaska jumped right out and
scored only 29 seconds into the period, a goal by David Vallieres, but it
would be their last. Ryan Reynard got another goal to complete his hat trick
(for which many hats flew out onto the ice :), and, along with two assists
in the first period, became the seventh member of the team to join the
Century Club this season. CC got one more goal in the period from Tim Sweezo,
to complete the scoring at 11-3. Towards the end of the third, after Ryan
Bach strained his knee or something, Judd Lambert was put in for the rest
of the game to give Bach a rest. Shots on goal were something like 60-45
in favor of CC.
The same two teams play again tomorrow night at 7:05. The Tigers will be
looking for a sweep to complete the series at two games, but I'm sure the
Seawolves will be fired up for the game, after being beaten so badly tonight.
