Another possible improvement:

Why not have the #1 seed in each region play the lowest remaining seed after
the first round game?  In the Eastern scenario this would prevent Harvard from
playing RPI, and BU from playing UHN.  To me this also is the fairest solution.
Of course the Wolverines might be a little upset if the Spartans pulled off an
upset.  OTOH they're looking forward to LSSU for a fifth time?  Guess that's
the downside of your conference putting four teams in the tourney.
 
And for all those Badger fans out there--Albany loves you!  You were the hit of
'92!  I trust your beef was with the refs, not the natives.
