John quotes the CCHA release:
>CCHA LEADS ALL U.S. COLLEGES WITH SEVEN
>PLAYERS SELECTED IN NHL ENTRY DRAFT

This must mean current players, right? The CCHA had 7 incoming
players taken (as the release goes on to say), but so did the ECAC,
and HE had 16 taken. I'm not sure on the WCHA since there are a bunch
of players from Minnesota unaccounted for.

>The Central Collegiate Hockey Association garnered nearly 50% of all
>U.S. college players selected in the NHL Entry Draft on June 26th in
>Quebec City.

Is 41% nearly 50%? :-) 7 of 17...since the ECAC had 6 current players
chosen (also "nearly 50%"?), HE had 2, and the WCHA (including UAA)
also had 2.

Don't you love propaganda? And lest you think I am showing bias, I
would not be surprised if HE comes out with a release headlined, "HOCKEY
EAST LEADS ALL US COLLEGES WITH 16 INCOMING PLAYERS SELECTED IN ENTRY
DRAFT". :-)

What does it all mean? Nothing, since the all-time leading scorer in
Eastern hockey, Jim Montgomery, was never picked (same with many other
greats), and the books are full of players who *were* picked but
didn't live up to expectations.

Thanks to John for posting the release, btw...this was meant mainly as a
gentle jab at the CCHA, on a pre-holiday Friday. :-) I did appreciate
seeing the information.
