Providence will have the 95 finals, btw...96 is Cincinnati. I'm also
not convinced that there is such a rotation (E-W-W-E...), unless
someone in the know can enlighten me. It may just be coincidence.

Knowing all the trouble Milwaukee and UW had to go through to get 93,
I wonder how the Boston people were able to assure the NC$$ that all
the obligations (especially financial) would be able to be met for a
rink that hasn't been built yet. Yet, if that was done, I don't see
why someone couldn't be awarded 98 before 97 is awarded, especially if
the 98 bid is more desirable than anyone else's (who knows).

It also may be that 97 is all but decided; it sounded like Milwaukee
was interested in the 50th anniversary and the NC$$ people were very
favorable towards this happening.

> WHAT HAPPENED TO ALBANY? And just how DOES the NC$$ pick their sites?

I'm wondering whether Albany's inability to get even the ECAC final
four is making the NC$$ reluctant to stage another national final four
there. I'm not passing judgment, I would like to travel to Albany for
another tourney there sometime - but trying to be objective, it's
possible that this just does not look good for the Knick. BTW, has
the Knick submitted a bid for 98?

On choosing sites...I know that there are quite a few factors that
come into play, but I don't think you are questioning those with
regards to Boston since the existence of a new building makes Boston
at worst the third or fourth most desirable location for a national
final four, up there with St Paul, Milwaukee, and Detroit. I think it
is certainly conceivable that the NC$$ wanted to return the final four
to Boston badly enough that 98 was worked out and accepted even before
97 was awarded.

>And the Midwest would go four years without a tournament within 1000 miles?

Not really...as I said above, I fully expect (without having any
inside info) that Milwaukee will get the 97 finals.

True, I will believe there's a new Garden when I set foot inside it -
but even if it slips out a year or two, 98 is probably still a safe
bet for the NC$$. I'm thinking that either the NC$$, knowing a new
building was going up, asked the Boston reps (BU?) when was the first
time they could host a tourney, or else Boston went to the NC$$ and
said, "This is the first time we can host it," and the NC$$ said ok.

No problem, you're finally paying for selling your souls to the devil
in 1986...besides, I know the the Sox will never win a WS in my
lifetime and I can accept it.

(Heather and I went to see the Albany-Colonie Yankees (AA) host the
New Britain Red Sox Sat night...NB led 2-0 after 8 1/2 and then
surrendered three in the last of the ninth to lose 3-2, including a
two-out two-run hit...why do I bother...major league, AAA, AA, it's
always the same.)
