This week's edition of The Hockey News lists the Central Scouting Bureau's
ranking of NHL draft prospects. Twenty four college players were listed, and
three schools were represented by more than one player: Cornell (3), BU (2),
and Western Michigan (2). No, that's not a typo! Three Cornell players were
actually listed. Maybe the scouts see some vast untapped potential. One can
only hope.

Here are the college players mentioned by round. The number preceding each
player is his overall ranking. None of the 26 goaltenders were college players.
Round 1
5. Paul Kariya, Maine, LW
22. Jay Pandolfo, BU, LW

Round 2
40. Kevyn Adams, Miami-Ohio, C
52. John Emmons, Yale, C

Round 3
56. Jason Smith, Princeton, D
73. Mikhail Lapin, W. Michigan, D
76. Jamal Mayers, W. Michigan, C

Round 4
90. Kevin Hilton, Michigan, C

Round 5
106. Stephen Guolla, Michigan State LW

Round 6
140. Erik Sundquist, Providence, D
152. Steve Thornton, BU, C

Round 7
168. Nick Poole, UNH, C
181. Todd Marchant, Clarkson, C

Round 8
189. Kirk Nielsen, Harvard, RW
191. Pierre-Claude Drouin, Cornell, LW
206. Bill Holowatiak, Cornell, D

Round 9
213. Dan Bloom, Dartmouth, D
224. Keith Sergott, Ferris State, D
228. Mark Strobel, Wisconsin, D
233. Ron Smitko, Brown, D

Round 10
240. Burke Murphy, St. Lawrence, LW
246. Jeremy Coe, Notre Dame, D
253.
253. Michael Sancimino, Cornell, C
257. Craig Mittleholt, Bowling Green, LW

Oddly enough the best Cornell player of the three, Sancimino, has the lowest rak ranking. This is probably due to the fact that he only played 11 games
because of mono.
