With the outstanding goalie performance of this and perhaps any season
at Alfond Arena by Garth Snow, Maine completed a sweep of BU.

BU coaching staff antics of the previous night earned a lot of talk and
press and HE rulings (more on that later), but in did not take away from
the hard play on both sides. As with Friday night, the Maine special
teams beat the BU special teams.

3 stars by Larry Mahoney, Bangor Daily News - 1 Snow, 2 Roy, 3 Carney

Game summary courtesy of Maine SID Matt Bourque ...

Goals 1 2 3 Final Saves Minutes 1 2 3 Total

Maine 1 1 2 4 Snow 60 12 8 8 28

           2 13:04 Me Tepper-5 (Mercier, Straub)

 PPG 3 8:01 Me Roy-26 (Montgomery, Carney)
 PPG 3 9:23 Me Roy-27 (Carney, Pellerin)

Penalties Me 14 for 28:00, BU 14 for 28:00

Referee - Raposa. Linesmen - Jones & Wynters

Power Plays Me 3-9, BU 0-9 Attendance - 4507

Unlike Friday night, BU out-attempted Me by a small margin in this game.
67% of MEs attempts were on the power play, whereas 40% of BU attempts
were with a manpower advantage.

This was a hard-fought game on both sides. Maine has probably knocked
BU out of consideration for NCAA top-4 and has perhaps given itself a
chance to earn that honor.

This game did have one goal called back. Referee Raposa clearly
signaled the goal, but apparently after consultation with the linesmen,
declared no-goal - the puck was kicked in. The linesman (Jones?) was
mistaken, as TV replays clearly showed movement (of Roy's skate) *along*
the direction of the blade.

HE rulings on Fri night's BU coaching fiasco, Commissioner Stu Haskell

(1) declined to add a game to Coach Jack Parker's game misconduct.

Since the actions were not dangerous or injurious (my words),
    further suspension was not warranted.

(2) requested the BU assistant coach involved spend this game in the
    press box.

I'm not sure what powers the commissioner has in this respect.

(3) required an additional school representative stay on the bench for
    this game.

Was this requested by BU? It was not by Maine. Was this to watch
the crowd or help coach the players? The 2 interviews of the
commissioner I heard did not address this.

(4) replaced referee Leavitt with Raposa.

The commissioner has disliked using the same referee at both Fri and
Sat games at Alfond for a long time. Apparently to relieve Leavitt
of any undo strain, he requested the change for tonight's game.
    Raposa whistled a "careful" game.

(5) filed reports with BU administration.
