With its weekend sweep, Harvard solidifies its hold on first place in the
ECAC, as the Crimson now lead second-place Yale by six points. Of course,
Harvard has padded this lead by playing two more games than anyone else in
the league except for travel partner Brown, and they have not played ECAC
heavies Clarkson or St. Lawrence yet. Still, the Crimson at the moment are
the class of the ECAC, and they are by and large playing well enough to stay
there. RPI also took a big step toward fulfilling preseason expectations
with its weekend sweep of St. Lawrence and Clarkson.

Speaking of which -- I'm not really surprised to see Cornell tied for
seventh in the standings at this point, but I am surprised, as are a number
of people, that the team they are tied with is the Golden Knights. I've
heard that head coach Mark Morris is trying all sorts of things to jump-
start his team -- switching locker rooms with the JV team, skating some of
his players with the JV guys, and the like. It'll be interesting to see if
these humiliation tactics work. For now, even though the Knights are
already ten points out of first place, I wouldn't stick a fork in them just
yet.

Cornell notes a little later today, but here at least are the scores and
standings:

     Clarkson 5, UNION 2
     Cornell 5, BROWN 3
     HARVARD 5, Colgate 4
     Princeton 2, YALE 1

Saturday, 12/5:

     HARVARD 6, Cornell 1
     RPI 4, Clarkson 3
     St. Lawrence 6, UNION 2
     Yale 8, PRINCETON 3
