Best as I can tell, the Gophers did not break the record for consecutive OT
games, but they may have tied the record for consecutive OT ties.

I checked the team scores over the last few years, which I have going back
to 1986-87, and also many of the team media guides I have which covers
about 3/4 of DivI.

Two teams have played five straight OT games:
1) RPI, 1991-92 (2-0-3)
2) Bowling Green, 1971-72 (1-3-1, last two in the first CCHA tourney)

Other than Minnesota, six teams have played three straight OT ties:
1) Providence, 1987-88
2) Ferris State, 1988-89
3) Ferris State, 1989-90
4) Yale, 1991-92
5) Ferris State, 1991-92
6) RPI, 1991-92

I can't find any teams that have played four or more straight OT ties, nor
can I find any teams that have played more than five straight OT games.

Minnesota, with three ties in eight games, is off and running towards the
NC$$ record for ties in a season - Michigan State had eight last season in
going 25-11-8.

I invite anyone with access to their team's past scores to take a look and
see if they can add to this list. This is one of those "obscure" stats
that isn't really kept, so it will take some research to see if Minnesota's
3 straight ties does tie a record.
