Hey, Bill--what if the game had ended 10 seconds sooner? :-)

On a hockey note (believe it or not):

Last year I never met Justin Doherty face to face, despite our both
working for the same university. I know another individual has been
hired to fill Justin's position, and am hoping he's also logged on to
this list. If so, here's something I'm wondering:

While the NMU Wildcats lost five of their top six scorers from last
year, they have 15 lettermen returning (if you can believe the Sporting
News, which may be correct on this). Here's what I'd like to know: what
were the average goals per minute played by the returnees? (My guess is
that the answer would be somewhat cheering to Wildcat fans. The
Beattie-Hiller-Drake-Beaufait-Szabo group got a LOT of ice time--natural
occurrence!--which meant the other 15 had relatively little. Yet the
team DID score (even) more goals than those recorded for the "Big Five."
Thus I suspect we'd find some of the returnees'scoring on a
per-minutes-played basis is not so bad.)

Never hurts to hope! (At least we have Joe Frederick!)
