The CCHA league schedule for 92-93 is somewhat set. The league came up
with two versions for this year and the schools voted 10-1 (I think) in
favor of one of them. Now, each school is working out individual game
changes to fine-tune it. I won't give you everything until it is more
settled, but I can give you some details.

The league season starts on October 23rd and ends on March 6th. There
are no league games scheduled for December 25-26 or January 1-2.

The CCHA has 11 full members this year, with Fairbanks an affiliate and
not playing any league games. Each team will play its 10 opponents 3
times for 30 league games, leaving 4 non-conference. 15 are at
home at 15 away. The 93-94 schedule is set up so that after the 2 years,
every team has played every other team 3 times at home and 3 times
away.

Playing 3 games per opponent creates some weird scheduling!

For example, 5 teams host LSSU for a single game, while the other 5
have to travel to the Soo for just 1 match. After some long hours and
computer assistance, the league was able to work things out so 4 of the
5 also travel to Ferris State for a single game. For 92-93, Notre Dame
and Ohio State will be "dancing" with FSU & LSSU in January and UIC and
Miami will be making the northern trip in March. Michigan State is the
fifth team, and they will have to travel to Lake Superior for a single
game. The fact that MSU is the odd team out was not an accident; in
93-94 FSU will be that odd team. Those 2 schools are the closest to
LSSU.

Likewise, LSSU will be playing 2 teams in 1 weekend on some of its road
trips. For example, the Lakers will be playing at Kent on a Friday in
January and at BG that Saturday. They have a trip to ND/UofM in late
February.

The last two weekends are a little different, also. All 11 teams will be
playing 2 league games each weekend at the end of the season. How? By
grouping *3* teams together for a series. This "triangle" for the final
weekend might be BGSU playing at Notre Dame on Thursday, Michigan State
at BG on Friday, and ND at MSU on Saturday. The other 8 teams can play
"normal" serieses and all 11 teams will get their 2 league games in
that weekend.

There were several "left-over" single games, like between FSU & MSU,
and those were slated for Tuesdays. Many of them will be moved to the
weekend, however, so the final schedule will not have have a lot of
mid-week games.

Of course, there are still the standard 2-games serieses, like Michigan
at UIC for a pair in January. Home-and-aways are scheduled, when possible,
like Michigan at MSU on Friday, 12/4, and MSU at UofM on 12/5. Not everyone
gets to play the "standards" all the time, however. WMU must play at OSU twice,
but instead of playing them during the same weekend, they are split and paired
with single games at Miami and at Kent.

Does all this sound confusing? Well, it is!
