Even though central Iowa is pretty isloated, that won't stop me from
asserting that LSSU will emerge the winner of the NCAA tournament. The FF
pits two defense-oriented teams (LSSU and Wisconsin) vs. two offensive powers
(Both UM and MSU tallied over 150 goals so far, methinks). All boast
superior netminding.

Michigan should prevail over Wisconsin. Wisconsin has, from time to time,
suffered some mental breakdowns when put against the wall. If Michigan comes
out scoring fast, they win. Derksen doesn't seem to be the kind of goalie who
enjoys having all the pressure put on him. Michigan is also in offensive-
overdrive recently. The goals have been coming easily for them, and I
think they are looking for another crack at LSSU, too (or so my friend at
LSSU tells me).

Even though MSU was fairly successful against LSSU this year (2-1-1, I
think), they will find it hard to weed through an ever-improving LSSU
defense, who manhandled Minnesota (not exactly offensive midgets). The
penalty-killing for LSSU has remained strong, and the power play has gotten
better. If both teams come out checking, LSSU will have the advantage.
Madeley is always tough--he is making Robb Stauber's Hobey campaign look
positively average.

Coincidentally, for those 'Sotans who remember Robb, I saw him play for the
Phoenix Roadrunners (IHL) over break. He knocked the holy bejeezus out of
the other team's fighter. It must be real embarrasing when you get the
snot kicked out of your by the cumbersome goalie.

        Adios,
        Bill H.
