The Women's Ice Hockey Team's improvement was incredible. I was not here
last season,but I practically live in Alfond as a mgr.for the Men's team,fan
of State High School Hockey, the University's basketball teams(who are now playi
ng in the Alfond) and a fan of the Women's team who only missed one home game
this season. At their first home game, they suffered a 6-1 loss to BC,but have
rebounded to play very competitive hockey,as displayed by their 45 shot perform
ance vs. BU last weekend(UM won 6-2). As far as fan support goes, the numbers
may not be as impressive as the turnout for the Men's games, but we averaged
100 in number for most contests, with over 250 fans at the BC game.
Even on Sunday morning(2/16)-at 8AM-during a snowstorm-34 of us diehards showed
up to watch UM play UNB-St.John's to a 3-3 tie.
Best of luck to all of the members in their tourney this weekend!!!
