UNO was looking to win its first ever Senior Night, and came through with a
7-3 win over Bemidji State.

Festivities started early as UNO's 3 Seniors were presented with CCHA
watches before the game. All 3, defensivemen Colin Strom & Christian Graham,
and goaltender Jason Mitchell were in the starting lineup tonight to a loud
ovation. Too bad the National Anthem singer sucked tonight (talk about
stringing a cat - why'd they save the worst singer for the last home game?)

Bemidji State got on the board early with a soft goal, as Mitchell gave up a
45 footer. UNO got it back though, and it went into the 2nd tied at 1.

UNO pulled out to a 3-1 lead, but Bemidji fought back to tie it at 3 near
the halfway point of the game. And that was the last time they got past
Mitchell. The backbreaker came when UNO killed a penalty, fed a long pass to
Jason White coming out of the box, breakaway, goal, 4-3 lead, game over.

UNO added 3 more in the 3rd, and the Seniors were given about 5 standing
ovations at the end of their final home game.

Unofficial shots on goal were 50-25 or so in favor of UNO. Bemidji State
never really threatened except when it was tied at 3. Their first goal was
soft, and UNO had way more talent and controleld the entire game. It
reminded me of alot of UNO's games earlier int he year (ie against Maine,
etc.) only with the rolls reversed.

If UNO had played this way 2 months ago, they would have beaten RIT by
similar margins instead of losing to them twice, and may have beaten Hahvahd
and similar teams at least once.

The next time UNO takes the ice in the Bullpen that is the Omaha Civic
Auditorium, they'll be full-fledged members of the CCHA playing in an
exhibition game before taking on Michigan State.

Meanwhile, They have 2 games at Michigan Tech and 2 at Mankato to finish out
the season. They're still looking for their first win on the road this season.
