COMMENTS:

Maine earns its an important win Friday night in Boston, 6-2 over the
Eagles. There are two things very striking, and very important for Maine.
1. Amanda Cronin looks like she was stellar in net. I did not see the
game, but 36 saves and only 2 goals allowed looks key. Maine was actually
outshot for the game 38-37, but goaltending was the difference.
2. Maine builds a 3-1 lead in the first period, without a SINGLE POINT
from Raffi Wolf. Wolf has carried Maine in recent games and for Maine to
build a strong first period lead was crucial for its confidence, but to do
it without Wolf scoring is more impressive.

Raffi ends up with 2 goals and 1 assist for 3 points on the game. The ECAC
Rookie-of-the Year candidate extended her league-leading goals total to 28,
3 goals ahead of Tammy Shewchuk from Harvard.

Maine also stayed alive for the final ECAC playoff berth. Cornell's 3-2
loss to Princeton and Maine's win moved the Black Bears to within 9 points
of the final spot with 7 games remaining. It will be very, very difficult
for the Black Bears to make this happen, but they do get Cornell twice at
home later this month. Maine is 3 points behind St. Lawrence for the 9th
position -- the ECAC coaches picked Maine to finish in 13th place at the
start of the season.

Maine and BC play Saturday afternoon at 3 with Maine going for it's second
league sweep of the year.
