Actually, it's not Len Ceglarski's lecacy.  That policy started with John
"Snooks" Kelley, who took great pride in being able to pick the best players
from the Boston area.
 
When Jack Kelley took over at BU in the mid-60's, the Terriers were average to
mediocre.  He saw that the best way to compete with BC and Harvard was to
recruit across the border.  He got some great Canadian players, several of whom
were named All-America.  None of his teams were ever greater than 50%
Canadian.  Years later, when Jack Parker became coach, BU had become well
established.  It was then that the Terriers had no trouble grabbing players
from Catholic Memorial (Parker's alma mater) and other Boston area prep
powerhouses.
