Wisconsin freshman center Jamie Spencer did not make the trip to
Duluth, pending some paperwork on his first semester grades. Coach
Sauer said that Spencer is (or will be) academically eligible, but the
paperwork hadn't made it through the University in time for the trip.

Milwaukee may not host next year's NCAA Hockey Tournament afterall.
According to reports in the local papers, the NCAA wants the organizers
to sign a contract now. The NCAA proposal gaurantees the NCAA the first
$400,000 of revenue (before expenses), the organizers the next
$150,000, and the remained split 80% for the NCAA and 20% for the local
organizers. The organizers, which include the Bradley Center and the
Milwaukee Chamber of Commerce (that isn't their exact name), are
reluctant to commit until they have sold some tickets (which apparently
is the deal the St. Paul and Albany had). The Wisconsin Athletic
Department, official hosts of the tournament, would be burned to the
ground by the legislature if they committed that kind of money now,
since they are about 1.5 million in debt (but working it off). The
organizers counter proposal was rejected (so far).

Duluth Coach Mike Sertich and their trainer (whose name I forgot) were
honored this week by the Wisconsin Department of Transportation.
Apparently they bussed from Duluth to Marquette last week for their
series against Northern Michigan. Along the way, they came upon an
accident near Ashland, Wisconsin. They stopped the bus and Coach
Sertich and the trainer assisted the victims. According to the
hospital, they definitly saved the guy's life.
