Woog has spun his magic again, using a freshman football recruit, who is
listed on the baseball team, as a potential benchwarmer behing Hauser.
Rob LaRue, of Minnetonka, played goalie in high school, and will be dressed
as a goaltender for this weekends games. (According to the Minnesota Daily)

His stats are
6-5 215 lb 1B-OF Baseball page
6-4 244 lb TE Football page

But he's not even listed on the hockey page. This is another example of
how Woog can look at his team, see what he needs, then look around the
University to fill the holes.

There have been many players over the years that after their sophmore
seasons must have realized they would never get much playing time, yet
remain on the team for the duration of their eligibility.

You mean like Ben Clymer, Mike Crowley, Eric Rasmusson, Willy Marvin, Steve
Magnusson, etc...

Most of these people are lured away by money; Willy Marvin is a guy who
just realized that he wasn't playing enough to justify the commitment it
takes to be on the team. With some Gophers (as is true on all teams) they
know they're destined to ride the bench, but still just hang on. Perhaps
the way to look at this is to compare the points players get from their
freshman to senior years. Some players have gone through their careers
with almost identical stats (slow start and never really getting better)
