Thank goodness is doesn't have to be pretty to be considered a win! The
Michigan State Spartans defeated Lake Superior State 4-3 on Saturday. From
a fan's perspective it was an exciting game, especially since we won! MSU
scored in the first five minutes of the first period and then again before
the period ended. MSU leads 2-0 going into the locker room. LSSU scored
twice in the second to tie it up and then went ahead. Coach Mason pulled
Chad Alban for the reminder of the period and subbed in freshman goalie Joe
Blackburn. Joe held his own. The start of the third saw Alban back in
net. He finished with a solid performance. Bryan Adams, playing in his
first game since 11/30, scored the game winner (Welcome Back!!).

The Lakers got MSU back on their heels a little and really were controlling
the game in the second period. The home fans certainly are not used to the
visitors scoring three unanswered goals! The game was a lot more glutch
and grab than we've seen in awhile. To the Spartans' credit, they did not
give up and stayed in the fight. This win pulled MSU within one point of
UoM.
