A few days ago, someone posted the list of cities where BU is showing
the Beanpot first round game on closed circuit TV. Someone else then
commented that the number of sites proves the importance of the Beanpot
as a tourney. While, I don't doubt the Beanpot's status among college
hockey tourney, the number of sites is no proof. Indeed the RPI-Clarkson
game on 13 February will be shown in 41 cities (according to the list
that the RPI Alumni Association sent) which is more than the about 30
listed for BU in the Beanpot.

In case anyone is interested, the 41 listed are Albuquerque, Atlanta,
Austin, Baltimore, Boston, Buffalo, Charlotte, Chicago, Cincinnati,
Cleveland, Dallas, Denver, Detroit, Ft. Myers, Hartford, Houston,
Knoxville, Long Island (actually Jericho), Minneapolis, Nashua/Manchester
NH, New Jersey (looks like Livingston), New York City, Norfolk, Orange
County CA (Costa Mesa), Orlando, Philadelphia, Phoenix, Pittsburgh,
Portland ME, Portland OR, Puerto Rico (San Juan I guess), Raleigh,
Rochester NY, San Diego, San Jose, Seattle, St Louis, Syracuse,
Tampa, Washington DC, and Westchester NY (White Plains). Some of
these are actually in suburban locations.
