If a referee loses sight of the puck then he is supposed to blow the
whistle. I do not recall much, if any, bellyaching on this list
last month when referee Jim Villandry did not blow the whistle when
Tom Noble froze the puck in the crease, thereby allowing Derek Bekar
to hack away until he knocked the puck into the net.

Bekar's own comment on the goal from the US College Hockey Online
game recap: "I should have put it in the first time," said Bekar.
"He covered it up, but the whistle never blew, so I whacked it in."

By the way, Michel's name is spelled Larocque, not LaRocque.
