Cornell beat Vermont 1-0 at Lynah Rink Friday night. The game wasn't
an artistic one, but it was exciting nonetheless, with strong
goaltending from Cornell's Parris Duffus and Vermont's Christian
Soucy. The lone goal came at 2:13 of the third period, when
Stephane Gauvin shoveled home a rebound of a shot from the blueline
by Jim McPhee. Karl Williams set up the play by forechecking the
puck loose deep in the Vermont zone. McPhee, normally a forward,
was playing defense because Cornell was two defensemen short
due to injuries.
