Subject: NHL Draft

The rule on 17 or 18 year olds is a U.S. college rule.  A player who declares early is then ineligible for college hockey.  Obviously this does not affect those playing major juniors who are already ineligible.  This eliminates most U.S. high school players from the draft except for a few prep school players who repeated a grade.  The folly of this is that Toby Peterson who completed his freshman year at Colorado College was ineligible because of age.  I never understood the rationale of this draft rule.
