Capial District Observations on Clarkson/Cornell.
Toss-up!
Having grown up upstate attending RPI and Union games(now with Union
seasons), there is typically not much difference between these two, they are
the biggest out of town draws. The only noticible difference is the
Clarkson's following is pretty consistant year to year, Cornell's ebbs and
flows depending on how well they are doing. VT is quiet during the season,
but I do wonder who is milking the cows during the play-offs.

Other thoughts:
When is college hockey going to start an instigator penalty - watching the
Union/RPI game, one player clearly started the fight, both got equal
penalties...

Union's freshman defensemen - Neil White and Jeff Sproat appear to be among
the best freshman in the league, unfortunately D does not get the same
attention as goaltending and goal scoring.

Dan Fridgen for coach of the year, his kiddicorp is getting it done, for
those of you who compare, and there have been a lot of you!, the current
coach has had more success his first three years than the previous one did.

Union would be much better off renovating Achilles than moving down town,
Union does not need more seats, just better seats(quality over quantity).

How about Union's Kevin Sneddon, 13 recruits and a wedding this spring, hope
he gets back from Mantitoba in time for the ceromony.

A Union/Rpi 2 of 3 is looking like another possibility.

This is the year Trevor Koenig deserves First team ECAC honors, only goalie
in the country with glamorous stats not on a powerhouse, Tim Thomas or Dan
Murphy could have an off night and their teams will still win, not Trevor.

Local Times Union coverage is poorer than ever, bring back the college hockey
icon, Keith Marder, (you can see Keith at ther LA Daily News Site on AOL),
Mark Singlais and Buzz Gray are good writers but their editor needs to give
them some space.

Fox23 TV in Albany gives all the league scores and standings, easily
outdistancing the "big three" in coverage.

There, now I won't feel guilty next time the lack of postings issue heats up
again.
