From the Gutterson Field house Friday evening, a great effort by the
Engineers of RPI. They held the French Connection completely off the
scoreboard, which has not happened too many times in their 4 years at UVM.

The first period saw Vermont emerge ahead 1 - 0, the second period saw the
RPI ahead 3-2, with a final score of 4 -2 on an empty netter.

A key point in the game was when a goal was disallowed that looked like a
pretty bad call <of course I am a UVM fan>. The score at the time was UVM
2- RPI 1. The puck was never in the control of the RPI goalie <sorry,
forgot his name>, and was knocked in. Seemed to be a pretty quick whistle,
and the video tape confirms that.

The third period was the type of play that was expected throughout the
entire game. Vermont dominated, but could not cash in on any of it's
chances.RPI played smart, dumping the puck and playing some close checking
hockey.

Take nothing away from RPI. They knocked Vermont off stride in the middle
period, enticing them to take many penalites and then taking advantage of
their scoring chances.
