The following simple formula will always tell you precisely where
Clarkson (or any other ECAC team) will be ranked in the polls:
 
Establish a panel of people who know a great deal about hockey but know
nothing about the reputations of the major conferences. Have them
attend a statistically significant number of college hockey games, and
allow them to discuss and carefully compare the records and
performances of the teams. Then have each rank his or her own top ten
teams, and combine the rankings, thus generating an authoritative
ranking of college hockey teams.
 
Lastly, take each ECAC team's rank and multiply by 2.  Adjust all other
teams accordingly. Odd final rankings may result from ties in the
authoritative ranking.
