Only four reipients of the Hobey Baker aware are presently playing in the
NHL; Neil Broten (1981); Paul Kariya (1993); Chris Marinuicci (1994); and
Brian Holzinger (1995); while 28 Hobey Baker finalists are presently playing
in the NHL.  This latter group includes Greg Brown (1990 runner up); Tony
Granato (1987); Brett Hull (1986); Craig Janney (1987); Joe Juneau (1991);
Brian Leetch (1987); Norm Maciver ((1986); Joe Nieuendyk (1987); and Joel
Otto (1984).
 
I throw this out for consideration.  Perhaps the panel that chooses the
finalists for the Hobey Baker award are better judges of talent than panel
that chooses the Hobey Baker recipient.  That's just my opinion.
