Hello, again, all you college hockey fans.

I did a lousy job of that last question, or an awful lot of people are being
very obtuse with me. I realize that playing with my mind is a challenge, it
being so hard to find, but confusing me isn't; I'm confused all the time.

What I really wanted: who are the top 5 current, active, D-1 coaches, in
your opinion, in order?

Herb Brooks was great. Frank Anzalone was great. They're not current
coaches.

Mankato St has a coach. I know. I didn't mean to slight him, or
anything/anybody else. Sorry.

I just want to know who you think are the top 5. I don't want you to worry
about how much it would cost (to avoid arguments like "Sertich at $50k/yr is
a better coach than Walsh at $80k/yr). NO NO NO! Don't worry about money!
Just please tell me the top 5 ACTIVE D-1 coaches (count Walsh in, because
Maine suspended him, not the NCAA).

Don' t worry about existing contracts, or chances of prying the coach away.
E.G.: "Mason is great, but he'll never leave MSU"; "I'd love to have Parker,
but his contract with BU is through 2000". NO NO NO! Don't worry about any
of that! There are 50 D-1 coaches, plus Walsh. Of those 51 (44 eligible
for the NCAA tournament), who are, in your opinion, in order, the top 5.

Don't worry if you haven't seen them all. Don't worry about jumping on the
UML bandwagon. Don't worry that I'll spread your disloyalty if you go to
Michigan and place someone other than Red Berenson #1. I won't tell.
Promise. I have 4 legit responses. I've discounted those with past coaches,
NHL coaches, dead coaches, D-III coaches, assistant coaches, Mankato State
coaches, and stage coaches.

Please, please, please! Just the active guys, just pick from the 51
(50+Walsh), and order them 1-5. I realize your opinion is based on what
you've seen. This ain't scientific; it's an opinion poll. That's all! It
would help if you let me know who they currently coach for (because I'll
confess that I don't know the head coaches all by name, but I know where to
find them; it's just a pain).

Thank you for your patience
