We're preparing for a leisurely Saturday ride up Route #95 to the historic
and recently refurbished Matthews (nee Boston) Arena for Brown's final
non-conference game vs. Northeastern. While the Huskies are exausting
themselves against the Air Force Academy tonight (note wishful thinking),
the Bears will be studying the recent Northeastern overtime shootout win at
Merrimack on videotape for a preview of what to expect tomorrow evening
(going 4-for-4 in a shootout at any level is impressive, and against the
Warrior's Martin Legault...outstanding).

In 1996, Brown has won three, tied three and lost only one, to
nationally-ranked Vermont, 5-2. When they jump back into the ECAC fray
next weekend against Union & R.P.I., the Bears still have a good chance to
earn home ice for the first round of the conference playoffs as six of
their eight February games are slated for Magnificent Meehan. Hopefully,
this is the pivotal portion of the schedule when Brown will separate itself
from the middle of the ECAC pack and make a meaningful advance. Things
appear to be coming together for the Bears who are beginning to get scoring
from previously dormant players to complement their consistently strong
goaltending. Can't wait for the stretch drive.
