I have to speak up and defend the fan that was reported as spitting on
Coach Markell after the BGSU-OSU game Saturday.  I have known the fan in
question for quite a few years and have sat with him at the games on
several occasions and I can tell you without any doubt that he did NOT
spit on Markell.  Sure he agitates opposing teams as they walk by his
seat while getting on the ice but I don't think anybody can provide an
arena where this does not happen.  What was said that got to Markell was
"I see you brought the old guy (Welsh/Walsh) back to show you how to
lose!"  At that point Markell lost it and the confrontation occured.  The
fan in question has been a major follower for many years (missing
probably a total of 5 games in the past few years including road games)
and even played golf with Markell at last years Former Falcon Golf
Outing.  Although he may verbally abused Markell, he did not spit at him.
 
  Getting away from that topic, once again I am very impressed with the
changes OSU has been making in their program.  They have talent and
speed, with none of the goonage (is that a word?!?) that has been
prevalent in the past.  I expect to see even more of this as the new
arena is built and better recruits are brought in which will make OSU a
legitimate contending team.
