Just for the record :-) , Sweden beat the Czech Republic 8-2 in the World
Junior semifinals to set up a meeting today with Canada in the finals.
These teams had previously played a scoreless tie in the round robin
portion of the tournament. They left many wondering if there would ever
be a goal after a scoreless first period. The second period began close
as at one time the game was tied 2-2, but Sweden took over from there
despite the TSN commetators talking about how well Sweden would sit on
the lead. Sweden won even though one of their top defencemen, Tjarnqvist
(sp?) was required to go back to Sweden for a club game involving the
potential relegation of that club.
