Yesterday Team USA tied Philadelphia, 1-1. The Flyers scored in the first and
21 seconds into the second, McEachern tipped Dave Tretowicz's shot by Ken
Wregget to tie it up. USA was outshot, 40-20, as LeBlanc made 39 saves and
Wregget stopped 19. 15,336 turned out.

This afternoon Team USA lost at Boston, 6-3, but USA was playing its second
game in two days. I just saw the highlights a few minutes ago. Heinze had
two goals and is on a tear. Bob Sweeney and Janney had two of the Boston
goals. The Bruins played Matt Delguidice in net while USA went with Gordon.
Some other B's who played were Wesley, Quintal, and Don Sweeney, so although
some of the Maine Mariners did see some time, Boston also played a number
of regulars. It looked like there was a pretty good turnout for this game too.

There was a story on the 10:00 news about David Quinn and his efforts to make
the team. Quinn has to give himself an injection before every game of some
substance that helps his blood clot. He has the extremely rare Christmas
disorder which prevents clotting, and this is why he has been unable to play
hockey for the past few years. The drug is FDA approved, by the way, but
is apparently considered experimental by some.

There was also a story on North Andover's Heinze in the local paper yesterday.
It said that the players are given $50 a day for meal money and $2,300 a
month which is kept in a trust fund. Heinze relayed a story about Team USA's
trip to Cincinnati where the players saw a sign in the hotel advertising
laundry service, and many players had quite a bit of clothes to have cleaned.
They thought it was free, but they were wrong: some of the bills were over $160.
