Joe Murphy skated with the NAIA Michigan-Dearborn
hockey team once while "vacationing" from the NHL. His friend
Tom Anastos was the coach.
 
Don't think the NCAA smiles too kindly on that behaviour,
however.
 
But there is certainly nothing stopping a pro athlete from
showing up at an open hockey session, where some of the players
might be looking for additional ice time.....
