I think that was Vanstaalduinen's stick, and he may have directed it sideways
as well as up. Either way, it beat Alban clean. :-( Smith looked like he was
just trying to find the easiest out (i.e. bank it off the back board behind the
MSU goal) and just spun a bit too far back towards his own net. Bart has a
somewhat unlucky streak of getting his stick in the way, as I believe it was
his stick which deflected in one of the goals at Bowling Green last year in
MSU's 6-4 loss in January. (Not that Bart hasn't stopped 100 times more goal-
scoring opportunities with his defensive play over the past 3 years, but he
does seem to be unlucky in this respect.)
