Just to add to what Carol said, John Mariucci played at Michigan.  His fellow
townmate from Eveleth, Minnesota, John Mayasich played at Minnesota (This was
in the early in the 1950's, I think).  Anyway, that year the Gophers and the
Wolverines met for the big title, and Michigan won--making Minnesota wish they
had been able to offer Mariucci a scholarship.  Just some trivia.
